Every Life Honored...Every Day
Nativity House originally opened its doors on Christmas Eve 1979 to bring hope and a warm meal to the homeless community. The founders had a mission and wanted to provide a day shelter where street people received a warm meal, found a place to be with others and rest. Their mission was for people to feel welcome, come together along with receiving community and personal assistance and move toward a greater life. The mission of Nativity House is rooted in the teachings and deeds of Jesus as expressed in the Gospels.
Years of experience have shown the immense loneliness, alienation and handicaps that exist within the poor communities or our society… the importance of a welcoming atmosphere with respect for all guests gives hope to the hopeless. These people were finally able to have a place to be with others in the same situation and feel accepted and respected.
Trinity has enjoyed partnering with Nativity House, a local drop-in shelter for the homeless for many years. Trinity Church has a team that prepares and serves lunch to the guests at the Nativity House every 2nd Saturday.
